Norwegian Maritime Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. (NMFPI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines recently inked a four-year Memorandum of Agreement signifying their commitment to strengthening environmental education among Filipino cadets and seafarers through its partnership project called, “Project SEA: Sustainability and Environmental Awareness”.

Project SEA, with the objective of conducting yearly environmental learning sessions and hands-on workshops among the cadets, is a continuation of both parties’ previous collaboration on the Environmental Life Skills Program in 2012 and 2014-15, which trained a total of 287 students.

NMFPI, as part of an industry that relies on seas and waterways for its operations, believes that strengthening environmental awareness and encouraging sustainable lifestyle changes among future seafarers are necessary first steps in creating a better future for our planet.
