ABOUT ETO
NTC ELECTRO-TECHNICAL OFFICER (ETO) TRAINING PROGRAM
The NTC ETO Training Program aims to address the growing demands for competent ETOs onboard ship. The training program shall enable the ETO candidates to acquire the desired expertise to safely & effectively handle and manage the complexity of a vessel's electrical equipment, ensuring continuous operational efficiency and proper maintenance.
This program is conducted through a comprehensive and systematic institutional training and sea-service experience. It enables qualified candidates to meet the required competencies for ETO as specified in Section A-III/6 of the STCW Code. Consequently, they can obtain a Certificate of Competency (COC) as Electro-Technical Officers, in compliance with the requirements of Regulation III/6 of the STCW ’78 Convention, as amended.
The training program is duly approved by the Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA).
PROGRAM SCHEME
The ETO Training Program is divided into three (3) major components, namely:

I. Workshop Skills Training (around 3 months institutional training)
II. Seagoing Service (minimum 9 months shipboard training with Training Record Book (TRB))
III. Assessment of Competence (including TRB Validation)
This scheme accordingly conforms to Regulation III/6, Paragraph 2.2 of the STCW Convention and covers the mandatory competencies and the required knowledge, understanding and proficiencies prescribed in Section A-III/6, Table A-III/6 of the STCW Code.
