NTC Course
Control Engineering Module 2 (ET Marine)
Control Engineering Module 2
This course is intended for sea going
engineers who are required to operate, maintain and to repair various control
systems found on-board. It generally provides fundamental knowledge and skills
required operate & maintain local and remote- controlled systems, in line
with the application of theory and understanding of instrumentation,
automation, alarms, monitoring and control systems.
In general, the course highly contributes in meeting the competency requirements relevant to function 2 “Operation & Maintenance of Electronic and Control Systems” specified in Table A-III/1 of the STCW Code, as amended.
COURSE AIMS & OBJECTIVES:
The course
aims to provide the advance understanding of instrumentation, automation,
alarms, monitoring and control systems which is relevant for the ship’s
automated control systems.
In effect, it shall enable participants to interpret responses of the PID controller, analyze & repair control circuits involving automatic and remote control. To realize this, the participants must be able to identify corresponding automation components and its function to control the operation of ship’s main and auxiliary machineries.
COVERAGE / PROGRAM FOCUS:
This course essentially deals with the
following subject and training areas:
- All types of process variable measurements and control
- Design simple electro-pneumatic control circuit, connection, testing and troubleshooting
- Circuit analysis and connections
- Troubleshooting faults in automated control system
- Install input/output devices on Programmable logic controller
- Perform basic PLC programming
- Upload PLC program to run the system
