Module: P-3.1: G5 Offshore Crane Training


This module deals with the essential theoretical competence required to be able to safely operate an offshore crane. Understanding of risks and correct behavior are integral part of the learning elements to ensure that necessary safety factors are accordingly dealt with.

The coverage of the training duly adheres with the training plan prepared by the Petroleum Cooperation Council under a mandate from the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway.

COURSE AIMS / OBJECTIVES:
This module shall enable candidate to acquire the theoretical knowledge for the safe use of G5 offshore cranes for handling cargo internally on the facility, in the open sea, towards ships, between anchorages, and/or floating devices and underwater lifting.

 

COVERAGE / PROGRAM FOCUS:
The training deals with the following subject and training areas:

  1. Introduction: HSE requirements at the training site
  2. Roles, belonging responsibilities, and requirements for communication using offshore cranes.
  3. Laws, regulations, standards, and the manufacturer's instructions for use
  4. Requirements for documentation and control of offshore cranes
  5. Requirements for the offshore crane's construction and mode of operation.
  6. Requirements for Offshore cranes' emergency and security systems
  7. Offshore crane load capacities, dynamic stresses, and limitations
  8. Offshore crane. load map and load indicator
  9. Requirements for lifting personnel.
  10. Requirements for use, maintenance and control of wire rope
  11. Requirements for use, maintenance and control of hooks, blocks, and washers
  12. Requirements for basic safety requirements, planning and risk assessment during lifting operations

Entry to this training is open for those who have completed the pre-requisite Module P-2.1 Fixed crane
