Navigational Assessment and Audits


This course is intended for Master & Senior Officers, Ship Superintendents, and designated quality assurance/audit personnel. It generally covers the industry guidelines and methods on navigational assessments & audits in view of evaluating the practices and skill-set of the individual and bridge team to provide assurance of standards of navigation and identify improvement for navigational practices on board vessels, including training demands based on a gap analysis of crew skills and competences.

 The course accords with the guidelines to best practices for navigational assessments and audits released by the OCIMF. 

COURSE AIMS/OBJECTIVES:
The course aims to provide applied knowledge & practical understanding of the industry guidelines and methods on navigational assessments & audit to identify level of assurance and identify improvements for navigational safety and practices on board vessel.

Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to acquire knowledge of the methods and measures on how to:

  • Design and conduct navigational assessment
  • Address human factors by encouraging assessment of behavioral standards
  • Assess the level of assurance in safety of navigation
  • Analyze and suggest measures for safely and competence improvements
