The course is intended for Deck Officers
who are to board conventional vessels fitted with Azimuth Propulsion to acquire
knowledge of the unique maneuvering characteristics of such propulsion system.
It provides familiarization on the maneuvering system and development of
essential skills in maneuvering practices for conventional vessels that are
fitted with Azimuth Propulsion.
The focus of lessons & instruction covers review of ship handling principles and essential aspects of berth planning and risk assessment, while the practical training consists of simulation exercises using full mission bridge simulator.
COURSE AIMS / OBJECTIVES:
The course aims
to provide practical knowledge and skills to effectively and safely maneuver
and handle vessel fitted with Azimuth Propulsion configurations.

- Review of ship handling theory, including
application of the pivot point.
- Maneuvering skills in Azimuth Propulsion
System
- Planned approaches to port & other
facilities
- Risk assessment and planning
- Machinery and power requirements in various
situations/operations.
