Tank Preparation for Chemical Tankers

The course is intended for Junior and Senior Deck Officers, as well as Petty Officers engaged in Chemical Tanker Operations, particularly those who have direct participation and supervision in Cargo Tank Preparation Operations. It essentially deals with safety and technical aspects when preparing cargo tanks for the next loading operations.

This course also addresses the latest revisions mandated by MARPOL Annex II and IBC Code which took effect on January 2021.

COURSE AIMS & OBJECTIVES:
The course aims to provide cargo tanker officers and personnel the following:

  • knowledge, understanding, and application of concepts in cargo tank preparation through understanding concepts in tank cleaning, slop disposal, and cargo handling;  
  • update on regulatory requirements as they pertain to handling of cargo and tank cleaning;
  • guidance on how to manage cargo tank preparation; and

  • knowledge on how to handle hazards in cargo tankers and consequently acquire the necessary aptitude to handle situations that may arise in cargo tankers.
